Do you know what is the Moneyer chart or who is Ferdinand Monoyer?

To a day 181 years ago, in 1836 was born Ferdinand Moneyer, French ophthalmologist who introduced the dioptre. He invented the Monoyer chart that serves as the standardized determination of visual focus since the 1870s.

Did you know that reading upwards on both ends (ignoring the last line), the name “Ferdinand Monoyer” can be seen?

As the digital era rises you can easily test your vision right in front of your computer for example on Vision. It is a free vision test website, there is no need for registration or to download any applications either. You’ll only need a smart phone and a couple of minutes.

Of course it doesn’t serve as a medical diagnosis, but if you miss many letters it is a good reminder to contact an ophthalmology specialist very soon. Good luck!
